Celtic star reveals when he could return from injury

It had looked like Celtic were slowly putting their injury issues behind them and getting their season back on track, having climbed up from sixth to second in the Premiership table. It is safe to say though that there are new problems on the injury front now and fans will be worried that it could derail their momentum.

In last midweek’s game against Hibernian, Tom Rogic picked up an injury. The Australian had been fantastic in recent weeks and will be a big miss for Ange Postecoglou’s side, as he looks set to be out for the next few weeks at least.

Then, Carl Starfelt picked up a similar injury while playing against Livingston at the weekend and had to be substituted off before the hour mark. And it appears that he could be out for a couple of weeks as well.

While speaking with Fotbollskanalen and as reported by the Daily Record, Starfelt said about the situation:

“I have an X-ray tomorrow (Monday) so we will have to look out for it (results), but it’s probably an easier stretch. That is still a couple of weeks.”

Starfelt could prove to be a huge miss for Celtic

Starfelt had a shaky start to life at Parkhead but had appeared to come into his own for some time now. His performances were improving with every passing game as it looked like he had well and truly found his feet in Scottish football.

The Swedish defender was putting in solid performances at centre-back on a consistent basis, had formed a good partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers in the heart of the Celtic defence and was a big reason behind their recent improvement at the back.

As a result, it is safe to say that Celtic could very well miss his presence at the back moving forward. Stephen Welsh would be expected to come back into the side in the Swedish international’s absence and it remains to be seen how he does.

The upcoming international break could represent a huge boost for Celtic in that regard as it would give the injured players some time to recover.
