Moussa Dembele bid accepted but bad news for Celtic

Moussa Dembele was absolutely superb for Celtic during his time at the club and would ultimately complete a big move to Ligue 1 giants, Lyon. There he has had a solid time as well, and a few great seasons, although there have been some below average campaigns as well for the striker. And now, it looks like he is set to be on the move again.

A few years back, when Dembele was being linked with clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea, it was believed that the Frenchman was rated at a transfer fee around £60 million.

Of course, Celtic have a sell-on clause in his deal, and as a result, such a move would have been great for the club and handed them a significant cash boost. But a Lyon exit did not transpire when interest in his signature was at its peak and now, it looks like Dembele could be set to depart for a token fee.

As reported by Football Scotland, an official offer was tabled by Southampton last night and now Lyon have accepted the transfer bid and it is now down to Dembele and his representatives to get a deal over the line.

Dembele bid accepted but there is bad news for Celtic

Celtic would have been due a fraction of any profit that Lyon would have made from the transfer of Dembele. He is believed to have joined the French club for a fee in the region of £20 million.

It is safe to say that the transfer fee will not be anywhere near that, even if Dembele did complete an exit before the January window slams shut. Rumours suggest that the figure could be around £3 million.
