Journalist confirms Celtic interest in Manchester City player

The transfer window is now open and the rumours are already flying around, with one of them suggesting that Celtic have an interest in yet another Manchester City player. The Hoops are expected to strengthen their squad over the course of the summer, with a Scottish Premiership title to defend and Champions League group stage football to play next season.

There have already been links between the two clubs involving a number of players, such as centre-back Ko Itakura and left-back Josh Wilson-Esbrand of Manchester City while the Premier League champions are believed to have been looking at Celtic youth standout Rory Mahady.

Of course, the rumours linking the two clubs is underlined by the recent move of Mark Lawwell from City Football Group to Celtic as Head of Scouting and Recruitment.

Also in that list of players is centre-back, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who is rumoured to be another Manchester City player of interest to Celtic. And when asked about it, Alan Nixon tweeted out that there is an interest but nothing new has transpired since last week:

Harwood-Bellis is another young Manchester City player, who is 20 years of age and has great potential. He has had loan spells at Stoke City, Anderlecht and Blackburn Rovers till now. He has also represented England at multiple youth levels.

The club should always be interested in great players and those with real potential, even if on loan. While current central-back numbers are fine, there are a few situations to be settled before the new season.

Christopher Jullien may decide to leave, having struggled to get much game time this year following his return from injury. On the other hand, Cameron Carter-Vickers has a significant decision waiting to be made as his loan from Tottenham Hotspur comes to an end. There have been positive noises about a potential permanent move but nothing is set in stone yet.
