There are very few things in football quite like a Champions League night at Celtic Park. The atmosphere at Parkhead on such occasions has become the stuff of legends over the years and after a long wait, the Hoops will finally be making their return to the main stage of Europe’s elite competition next season. Thus, the fans will be hoping to be part of some more special moments under the lights.
Celtic Park has been praised as one of the best stadiums in the world to play at by many legends of the game over the years, including Lionel Messi, Andreas Iniesta, Kaka, Bastian Schweinsteiger and many others.
Now, it is time to add the name of a Manchester United legend to that list as well and that is none other than former France international star, Patrice Evra.
“I think in Turkey, Galatasaray and Besiktas, was amazing. But you know what the atmosphere also I enjoyed was Celtic. It was just amazing.
“We played Celtic at Manchester United in the Champions League. The atmosphere was electric. This is where you get the real ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, the real one.”
Evra gives high praise to the atmosphere at Celtic Park
Evra spent almost a decade playing for Manchester United and enjoyed tremendous amount of success at the club as well, as most of it was playing under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson, when they were one of the best teams in Europe. We all know how things have gone for the Red Devils since then.
Other than that, he has also represented clubs like Juventus and Marseille, as well as the French national team on a lot of occasions, and as a result, has played in of some of the biggest stadiums in world football.
Thus, when someone like Evra namedrops Celtic Park like that, you have to consider it a big deal for sure. At the same time though, one has to admit that there might have been a bit of tongue in cheek humour, when calling it the real ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, considering the rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool.
