Celtic on the verge of completing sensational transfer

Celtic went into the previous summer transfer window in need of a complete squad overhaul. The situation is going to be very different for Ange Postecoglou’s side this time around, as they have won the Premiership and League Cup, and the team is much more settled now than it was a year ago. But at the same time, with Champions League group stage football guaranteed, they will need strengthen the squad further.

It will be important to bring in some new players in order to improve in certain areas but at the same time, it will also be important to hold on to the players who did well in the recently concluded season for the Hoops.

Jota was one such player. He was brought in on loan from Benfica and established himself as one of the key players in Postecoglou’s starting XI. Celtic are believed to have an option to buy included in the loan deal of a transfer fee around £6.5 million.

Now, as reported by A Bola (via The Celtic Way), Jota will sign for Celtic barring any last-minute hitches. The Portuguese winger has agreed to sign for the Hoops on a permanent deal and negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Celtic appear to be closing in on sensational transfer this summer

Keeping hold of Jota is going to be vital for Celtic. He has been a key part of Postecoglou’s side throughout the course of the season, even when he went through a rough patch in the second half of the campaign.

If he does not end up at Celtic then the club would need to bring in another winger and there would be a lot of risk involved in any such move, whether it would work or not, like any other transfer.

It has been believed that Celtic have been ready to shell out the transfer fee for Jota for a while but it would ultimately come down to the player and what he wanted to do. Now, it looks like he has decided that staying on at Parkhead is the best step for his career. Let’s hope that the transfer goes through without any hiccups.
