Scott Brown enjoyed one of the most successful careers in the history of Scottish football and by the time he left Celtic last summer, his arms must have gotten tired lifting one trophy after another as the long-time captain of the club. Every fan would have wished it came to a better end than it did, with the club completely collapsing in their quest to complete 10IAR.

Brown’s post-Celtic career did not go as he would have hoped either. He joined Aberdeen on a player-coach role under the management of former teammates, Stephen Glass. The Dons have not enjoyed a good campaign though and parted ways with the manager in the middle of it.

Jim Goodwin replaced the outgoing Glass and soon, Brown left as well. Since then, rumours have been swirling around that Broony’s playing career was over and he would be concentrating on managing moving forward.

Now, Brown has officially announced his retirement from the game on his Instagram. And there was no lack of players congratulating him on a wonderful career. Former Celtic vice-captain, Mikael Lustig commented:

It is safe to say that Broony was a popular member of the Celtic squad, judging by the number of players, current and past, decided to comment positively on the post announcing his retirement.

What a career he had indeed! One of the greatest captains in the history of the game without a shadow of a doubt. We would also like to thank Broony for all that he did for Celtic and wish him the best moving forward.
