Kris Boyd can’t resist taking dig at Celtic after Hearts game

Celtic’s 4-1 win over Hearts meant that the Hoops are on the verge of sealing the Premiership title. Mathematically, the title race is still not over but realistically, the Rangers have almost no chance of catching Ange Postecoglou’s side even if they were perfect from now until the end of the season in the league.

Celtic have a 9 point lead, having played one game more than the Rangers, who still have three more league games to play. Thus, Postecoglou’s side need to earn one more point or for the Ibrox side to drop points to be crowned the champions of Scotland for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons.

One man who is not expected to be very pleased about it is Kris Boyd. But at the same time, he has plenty of reason to be happy as well, as the Rangers booked their place in the final of the Europa League, beating RB Leipzig in the semi-finals.

And Boyd just could not resist taking a dig at Celtic even while congratulating them for their success in the league. As reported by Football Scotland, the former Rangers star told Sky Sports:

“Congratulations to Celtic on the league title but I’m away to get my passport and sombrero out for the Europa League Final, I’ll see you all next season.”

It is safe to say that the Rangers have been able to overshadow Celtic in European competition for the past few years and provided the blueprint to how a Scottish team can succeed on the continental stage.

Hopefully, Celtic will use this as fuel for their own upcoming European campaigns. They are a point away from booking their place in the UEFA Champions League group stage next season.

On the other hand, the Rangers will have their chance to do the same when they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League final and it is safe to say that most Celtic fans will be siding with the German club on the day.
