Manchester United linked with Celtic transfer target

Celtic have been linked with a number of players in recent times. Despite adding twelve players to their squad in the summer and five more in the winter, it is safe to say that there is a lot more work that can be done to give Ange Postecoglou the best chance of success in both domestic competitions and in Europe. Thus, one would expect the Hoops to make a few more additions to their ranks next summer.

But despite that, one does not expect the players being linked with Celtic, to also be linked with Manchester United. That is not a common occurrence.

It has happened this time around though and it is a surprising one to say the least. The player in question is Dundee United’s Benjamin Siegrist.

As reported by the Mirror, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Siegrist. The Red Devils even sent their goalkeeping scout Tony Coton to watch him in action against Celtic. The club are thought to be looking for cover for their current number one, David de Gea.

Siegrist has done an excellent job during his time at Dundee United. On top of that, his current deal is believed to run out at the end of this season and he could walk out as a free agent.

At 30 years of age, he should have plenty of top level football left in the tank, especially as a goalkeeper.

But even then, not many could have predicted Siegrist being linked with a move to Manchester United. Even though he would be expected to play the role of a back-up goalkeeper there, the chance to play for the Red Devils might be too good to turn down for the Swiss goalkeeper, if the Premier League giants do end up trying to sign him in the summer.
