Celtic will know that they need to be at the top of their game when they face Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa Conference League, first at Parkhead and then in a tough away leg in Norway. The Norwegian champions have been a team in form in Europe this season, and hold an incredible 6-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma side, proving that on their day, they can outplay even world-class opposition.
The Hoops should be quietly confident of their chances though. Ange Postecoglou’s side have been in tremendous form in recent times, which has resulted in them reaching the top of the Premiership, while they have already won the Scottish League Cup this season.
Thus, this promises to be a tight contest between two very good teams, which could go right down to the wire.
Postecoglou has already sprung up a selection surprise though by starting Matt O’Riley and Tom Rogic together, while leaving Reo Hatate on the bench. Celtic tweeted out their line up against Bodo/Glimt:
Postecoglou makes surprise Celtic selection decision vs Bodo/Glimt
Most people would have expected either Rogic or O’Riley to start on this occasion as they are viewed as similar type of players, and this is the first time that the two will be starting together.
On the other hand, after several excellent performances, Hatate has been left on the bench and it is safe to say that the Japanese star does deserve some rest.
It will be interesting to see how the midfield does on this occasion. Both Rogic and O’Riley have been in good form and nobody can say that either of them does not deserve a start. What is more interesting is how the combination will work.
With the Rangers getting a huge result away in Germany against Borussia Dortmund, Celtic will be looking to seal a big European win of their own.
