‘It’s Going To Be Massive’ – Pundit drops Morelos verdict that ‘Piles It On Celtic’

Alfredo Morelos’ “massive” presence could help turn the tide for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race, according to Paddy Kenny.

The former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old could hold the key to “piling the pressure” on league leaders Celtic.

Morelos continued his rich vein of form by grabbing the second goal as Rangers defeated Hibernian 2-0 in midweek (9 February).

The Colombian returned from international duty with a bang last Sunday (6 February), notching two goals and an assist in a 5-0 demolition of Hearts.

Rangers dropped five points in Morelos’ three-game absence, including a humbling 3-0 Old Firm derby loss on 2 February.

Kenny insisted the stage is set for an “exciting” finish to the season.

“It’s going to be massive to have him fit and firing,” he told Football Insider

“You can see they have missed him and to have him back and scoring goals – three in the last two – will be a big help.

“His presence will just pile that pressure on Celtic, because with him in the side you know that Rangers will score goals and win games.

“These final few months will be really exciting and it can only be good for Scottish football if both Rangers and Celtic are fighting the way they are.”

Morelos, who is out of contract at Ibrox in 2023, has netted 16 goals in 32 games this term.Celtic and Rangers are both in Scottish Cup action this weekend against Raith Rovers and Annan Athletic respectively.

The Hoops’ Scottish Premiership lead is just one point after 26 games.
