Injured Celtic star wanted by Premier League clubs

Over the years, several players have made the jump to the Premier League after impressing for Celtic. And could another name be added to that list in the near future? Quite a few of the club’s stars have stood out this season following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager, as the Hoops are enjoying a very decent campaign till now, having already won the Scottish League Cup.

There are several Celtic stars in the current team who have already been linked with Premier League clubs in the past like Callum McGregor and Kyogo. And now, it looks like another of them might have raised interest down South.

That man is David Turnbull, who has done very well since joining Celtic in the summer of 2020 and was enjoying a successful season, until picking up a hamstring injury recently, in the Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian.

As tweeted out by Ekrem Konur, he is being pursued by Premier League teams. Although, promisingly, it appears that Celtic want to give him a long-term contract extension.

Premier League clubs are interested in Celtic’s Turnbull

Out of all the signings that Celtic made in the summer of 2020, Turnbull might be the only one who can be considered as a success.

He had a very good 2020/21 campaign and was arguably the club’s best player. And he has produced some good performances this season as well, coming into his own recently after a shaky start under the management of Postecoglou.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Turnbull has scored 9 goals and provided 7 assists in 34 appearances this season. And he has also played 2840 minutes of football already, making him one of Celtic’s most active players.

Still just 22 years of age, he is expected improve a lot over the next few years and thus, it is not hard to see why there might be interest in him from the Premier League.
