Celtic are expected to add quite a few players to their ranks over the coming transfer windows. They have been linked with moves for the likes of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi in January, but that is not expected to be enough when it comes to strengthening Ange Postecoglou’s squad, which is need of reinforcements all over the pitch. They might have the perfect signing already at the club though.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been nothing short of brilliant ever since joining the club on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur, in the final hour of the summer transfer window.

It has proven to be an inspired move on the part of Celtic and the biggest problem with Carter-Vickers is the fact that he is only on a loan deal at the moment.

Frank McAvennie has been impressed by the defender and has urged Celtic to sign him on a permanent basis. As reported by Football Insider, he said:

“I’m starting to really like him. He’s been really solid in recent weeks.

“For me, he’s been the one who has played a big role in improving that defence.

“Joe Hart also has to take massive credit for that but Carter-Vickers has been playing every game for a reason.

“If it’s only going to cost £3million I would get that done in January, pay the money.

“Then he’s ours and we don’t need to worry about it.”

Celtic urged to complete move for Carter-Vickers

Carter-Vickers has been a standout for Celtic this season and many people believe that he is the best defender at the club right now. Thus, it would make a lot of sense for the club to try and sign him on a permanent basis.

There has been a lot of debate and confusion surrounding what kind of a transfer fee it would take to keep him at Parkhead on a permanent basis.

Some rumours have suggested that it could go as high as £10 million with add ons, which would make him the most expensive signing in the history of the club and if that is the case then there is very little chance of it happening.

But on the other hand, figures like £3 million and £6 million have been floated around as well, which are transfer fees that Celtic might very well consider shelling out for a player who has already proven himself at Parkhead.
