Scotland international responds to Celtic transfer rumours

Celtic are expected to strengthen their squad significantly over future transfer windows. While the Hoops have done quite well since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou it looks like they do not have enough options to make a sustainable title challenge. And thus, the January transfer window as well as next summer will be very vital to how this side develops.

One area that they might need to strength is centre-back. Christopher Jullien has not made a single appearance for them this year and as we head into the last two weeks of December, it looks like that will remain the case.

Several times, it has looked like he is closing in on a return but it has not happened till now, which will be a massive worry for Celtic. Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers have done quite well and solidified the defence, but Stephen Welsh does not quite look ready to be a regular in the starting XI although his potential is unquestionable.

Thus, Postecoglou could do with another option in Celtic’s defence and one player that they have been linked with is John Souttar.

Souttar responds to rumours linking with Celtic and several other clubs

Souttar has impressed immensely this season for both club and country, and as a result, he has been linked with the likes of Celtic, the Rangers and several other English clubs. As reported by The Courier, he said about the speculation:

“Before my injuries, I think it would have affected me more.

“Now, I don’t take anything for granted. I go into every game completely focused on the match and what I need to do.

“Everything else gets blanked out because I’m just thankful to be on the pitch.

“The older I get, and the experiences I’ve picked up, the easier it has got to deal with speculation.”

Despite being just 25 years of age, Souttar has already suffered several serious injuries through the course of his career.

But he seems to have finally got it going and is in the middle of a great run of form. His current deal with Hearts runs out next summer though meaning that he could potentially leave as a free agent.

Would a move for Souttar make sense for Celtic in the future?
