Celtic fans react to huge Steven Gerrard Rangers exit update

Celtic and the Rangers appear to be in the middle of a title race right now, after some magnificent progress shown by Ange Postecoglou’s side over the past month or so. On the other hand, the Ibrox side have not looked the most convincing this season. And now, they could be handed a huge blow, with Steven Gerrard being heavily linked with a move to become the next Aston Villa manager.

It is safe to say that any such move could have implications on the Scottish Premiership title race, with the Rangers needing to make a change in the managerial hot seat in the middle of the season.

And while nothing is over the line yet, the rumours linking Gerrard to Aston Villa have only gained pace over the past 24 hours or so.

Now as tweeted out by Ashley Preece the move is all but done and an announcement could be expected within the next 24 to 48 hours:

As one would expect, a number of Celtic fans have taken the opportunity to get a word in as it looks like the Rangers manager could be set to depart in the middle of the campaign:

Celtic fans react as Gerrard looks set to leave Rangers for Aston Villa

This could turn out to be very interesting, especially in the context of the Scottish Premiership title race between Celtic and the Rangers.

If Gerrard does end up sealing an Ibrox exit soon, the Rangers will have to find an replacement whose strengths complement those of the squad that Gerrard had assembled over the past several years.

Managerial changes can go two ways. On one hand, they can derail a club’s season. But on the other they can make it as well. The previous two Champions League winning managers came in the middle of the season in order to steady the ship at Bayern Munich and Chelsea, respectively.

Thus, the best thing that Celtic can do is be focused on their side of things and keep improving like they have over the past month.
