‘That Tells Me Ange Isn’t Happy’ – Pundit on ‘Big’ Celtic player who started yesterday

Frank McAvennie claims Josip Juranovic can be a “big” player for Celtic as he scored his second goal for the club on Saturday.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, wants to see the defender given more minutes.

Juranovic, 26, has only made seven appearances for Celtic since he joined the club from Legia Warsaw in the summer.

These outings have brought two goals with the second coming in Saturday’s 2-0 win over St Johnstone.

The versatile defender has been deployed at both left-back and right-back this season as Ange Postecoglou continues to tinker with his defence.

McAvennie wants to see Juranovic given a proper run in the team after being impressed by his early performances.

“The boy Juranovic has been in and out of the team,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“When he signed they said he could play on the left and on the right though I think he’s mainly a right-back.

“He was thrown straight into the Old Firm just a few days after signing which maybe wasn’t the right idea.

“I thought he was signed to come straight in and play every game but that hasn’t been the case.

“He hasn’t been as involved as I would like and that tells me Ange Postecoglou isn’t happy with his options.

“He doesn’t have settled full-back options because he names a different one every week.

“I want to see more from Juranovic.

If he plays to the high level we have seen briefly, he can be big.”
