That is the view of finance boffin Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hoops’ upcoming annual general meeting.

As reported by the Scottish Sun on 20 October, share-owning supporters will get the chance to discuss the controversial ‘resolution 12’ at the AGM.

The bill, which was tabled and dismissed by the board at last year’s AGM, concerns alleged irregularities in Rangers’ European licence.

Supporters want Celtic to lobby the SFA to resume its case against the Scottish champions’, which was dropped in May last year.

Fan pressure group the Celtic Trust was instrumental in ensuring that resolution 12 garnered enough votes to be discussed at the AGM.

It was announced yesterday that the meeting will take place on 17 November.

Maguire claims that while divisions among both clubs’ sets of supporters run deep, they do not extend to their respective hierarchies.

“At board level, Celtic and Rangers have a cordial relationship,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“At fan level, that relationship doesn’t exist. You have two different bodies looking at things through two different lenses.

“That is why the Celtic Trust have historic issues with Rangers and the Rangers fanbase have historic issues with Celtic. That will never change.

“The supporters don’t have to work together but the boards of both clubs do have to work together.

“Simply put, sometimes you have got to choose when is the right time to fight your battles. This is huge for the fans but not so big for the board.
