Ange Postecoglou drops interesting Celtic transfer tease

Celtic fans must be very happy with the January transfer window that the club have enjoyed till now. In fact, they have made more additions than most people would have expected. The Hoops have brought in Yuki Kobayashi at centre-back, Alistair Johnston at right-back, Oh Hyeon-gyu at striker and Tomoki Iwata is capable of playing in defensive midfield as well as central defence. Thus, all bases seem to be covered when it comes to squad depth.

Of course, there have been exits as well. The most high profile has been Josip Juranovic leaving for Union Berlin, but Johnston has looked like a very capable replacement in the first few appearances that he has made for the club since arriving. They already have Anthony Ralston too.

Giorgos Giakoumakis is expected to leave as well over the coming days. Other than that, there is not expected to be any major movement at the club before the January transfer window slams shut.

Yet, Ange Postecoglou has not ruled out the idea of adding to his squad over the last few days of the January transfer window, if the right opportunity presents itself. As reported by The Herald, the Celtic manager said:

“We’re always sort of active until the window closes if any opportunities arise. But the key thing is we are not going to be scrambling in the last few days looking for solutions.

“If nothing happens, we are in a great space and, if an opportunity comes, then we’ll look at it.

“The proof is in the pudding. It doesn’t matter when you do your business, it is the business you are doing.”

Postecoglou drops interesting Celtic transfer tease ahead of deadline day

Of course, there are a lot of good deals available on deadline day as well. The summer transfer window of 2021 is proof of that.

Celtic brought in Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Giorgos Giakoumakis on that deadline day, and it is safe to say that all three proved to be great signings for the club and played key parts in their successes.

Thus, the important thing is to stay alert, in case any opportunities arise. But even if no further signings are made, Celtic should be very happy with the job that they have done.
