Massive Celtic deal set to be announced this week

Perhaps Celtic’s biggest strength last season and the top reason for their success since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager, is how well they have done when it comes to identifying players who can make a mark on the team and then signing them. Hopefully, that will continue over the coming weeks and months.

Celtic have started the summer transfer window in spectacular fashion by completing the transfer of Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis from Tottenham Hotspur after the United States international enjoyed a brilliant season on loan at Parkhead last time around. He was a key part of the Hoops’ defence and played a big role in their Scottish Premiership and League Cup double.

Another player who did the same, while also on loan, is Jota. The Portuguese winger was on loan from Benfica and proved to be a talisman for Postecoglou’s side going forward. And the fans are desperate to see him being signed on a permanent basis as well.

There is a positive update in that regard as well, as it looks like the signing might not be far away. As reported by the Daily Record, negotiations are well underway to make his stay permanent, with a deal set to be announced this week.

Celtic could announce massive deal this week

Jota signing on a permanent basis would be a massive boost for the Hoops to say the least, if they can indeed pull it off.

The Portuguese winger was one of their best players last season. It is believed that the club have an option to buy included in the loan set at a transfer fee around €7.5 million and rumours have suggested that that figure is not a problem.

Celtic are believed to be negotiating the contract with Jota at this point of time, with only some final details to be figured out.

All the noise coming out of the Portuguese media has suggested Jota’s move to Celtic on a permanent basis is only a matter of time. Thus, while the club have still not completed a deal, there does not seem to be any reason to panic.
