Major details about Cameron Carter-Vickers to Celtic transfer

Celtic have pulled off their first major transfer move of the summer by signing Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis from Tottenham Hotspur. The United States international defender had been a major success while on loan last season and the Hoops have done a wonderful job to bring him to Parkhead on a long-term basis. It must not have been easy, with there believed to be interest in the player from Premier League and Championship clubs.

Carter-Vickers had established himself as one of the key parts of Ange Postecoglou’s team last season and as a result, him staying is a huge boost for the manager as well.

The Hoops did have an option to buy included in the loan deal and it looks like they have had to trigger it to make sure that Carter-Vickers ends up at Parkhead.

As reported by The Scotsman, while the fee has not been disclosed by Celtic, it is believed that it is in the region of £6 million with potential add-ons. The defender has signed a four-year deal with the Hoops.

Major details revealed about Carter-Vickers to Celtic transfer move

The £6 million transfer fee immediately makes Carter-Vickers one of the most expensive signings in the history of Celtic and he could rise further up that list, depending on how much the club have to shell out further if add-ons are met.

Rumours had suggested earlier that with add-ons, the total move could be worth around £10 million. Thus, if all add-ons are met, that would make Carter-Vickers the most expensive signing in the history of Celtic, ahead of Odsonne Edouard, unless they end up breaking that record anytime in the near future, which feels unlikely.

Thus, it goes without saying that this is a big deal for Celtic but at the same time, considering how well Carter-Vickers did for the club last season, it feels like it is one that the Hoops had to pull off somehow. Thus, the fact that they have been able to get it done is a huge boost for the club.
