Celtic should try to sign excellent Chelsea player on loan

Celtic will need to be smart this summer. The club have a very good squad, which won the Scottish Premiership and League Cup in their very first season together, while dealing with a series of injuries to some of their key players through the course of the campaign. Thus, one would expect them to get even better next season.

At the same time though, with the Scottish crown to defend against the Rangers and Champions League football to play after years, the club cannot rest on their laurels and do nothing, in hopes that the squad will improve next season.

Thus, some additions are needed but not too many at the same time. One role that Celtic do need to fill though is the one that Nir Bitton used to play for the Hoops, before leaving in the summer. The Israeli was someone capable of playing in multiple positions all over the pitch.

Celtic should have their eyes on Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu. The Wales international has been out on loan for the past several seasons and one to Parkhead might make sense for all parties involved.

Celtic should target Chelsea player on loan this summer

While Ampadu might have never managed to establish himself in the Chelsea first-team, but he has had a couple of promising loan spells. He has also been a part of the Wales national team picture for a good while.

He has been involved in back-to-back relegation seasons, with Sheffield United and Venezia, but that did allow him to play a decent amount of football in the Premier League and Serie A respectively, and should have gone a long way in his overall development as a player.

Ampadu had made several appearances for Chelsea as a teenager and looked like he was destined to be a regular in the future, but never got a lot of chances after that, which should not come as a huge surprise considering how frequently the club change managers.

He is capable of playing at centre-back, as a central midfielder and as a defensive midfielder. That versatility would make him an excellent addition for Celtic and go a long way in replacing Bitton in the team.

On the other hand, a loan move would make sense for the player as well. He could get to play some good amount in the Premiership and there is the dangling carrot of Champions League football as well.
