Celtic should try to sign Liverpool player this summer

Celtic are a team on the rise, having won both the Scottish Premiership and League Cup last season. As a result, they are set to make their return to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League after several years and must be keen to make an impression on the competition. Thus, one would expect Ange Postecoglou to strengthen his squad in quite a few positions over the summer transfer window.

One of them could turn out to be central defence. On one hand, it is still unclear whether Cameron Carter-Vickers will return to Celtic on a permanent basis or not. On the other hand, Christopher Jullien could potentially be on his way out of Parkhead as well, having failed to break into Postecoglou’s plans last season.

Thus, the club could very well be in need of a centre-back soon. In fact, it is more than likely. And if that does turn out to be the situation, they should try to sign a Liverpool player who they have been linked with heavily in the past, in the form of Ben Davies.

As reported by Football Insider, Davies has been told by Liverpool that he is free to find a new club. The Reds will listen to permanent and loan offers this summer.

Celtic should consider making a move for the Liverpool player this summer

Davies was close to a move to Celtic not too long ago but Liverpool swooped in late on in early 2021 to take him to Anfield.

He was believed to be the right fit for Klopp’s style of football. But the move has not worked out for him at all, and he is yet to make a single appearance for the Reds.

He spent the previous campaign on loan at Sheffield United, where he had a decent but not great campaign. But if Celtic are in need of a centre-back in the summer, he could be a solid one for them.
