Celtic told to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Europa League hero

Celtic will have to strengthen their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window. While the club enjoyed a tremendous campaign, getting back to the top of Scottish football by winning the Premiership and also the League Cup, they will have to step up their game further, with them making a return to the UEFA Champions League group stage after many years.

Ange Postecoglou’s side should be even more hungry to do well in Europe next time around, after seeing the Rangers reach the Europa League final.

Speaking of that game, the Ibrox side did fail at the final step, losing to Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties, after it had ended 1-1 over the 120 minutes.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s hero on the night was Rafael Borre, who scored the equaliser for them in 69th minute of the final and then scored the Europa League-winning penalty as well. And after the game, former Celtic star, Marc Crosas, told the Hoops to sign the Colombian star as he tweeted out:

Celtic told to sign Borre after Europa League heroics for Eintracht Frankfurt

Those with a keen memory will remember that Celtic had been linked with a move for Borre last summer as well, as he was set to leave River Plate.

Considering the events of last night, most fans would probably be very happy that he ended up at Eintracht Frankfurt instead.

Borre has not had the most exciting of overall seasons. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 12 goals and provided 8 assists in 45 appearances for the Bundesliga club. But his heroics in the Europa League final mean that he will forever go down in Eintracht Frankfurt history.

There does seem to be very little chance of Celtic getting a deal done for Borre, especially considering the fact that they have two very good strikers in Giorgos Giakoumakis and Kyogo at the moment. As a result, they do not have any immediate need to splash out on a goalscorer.
