‘Desperate’ – Journalist makes massive Celtic transfer claim

Celtic enjoyed a day out in the sun as they clinched their 10th Premiership title of the past 11 years. The league had been sealed in the previous game as well, when Ange Postecoglou’s side had managed a 1-1 draw away at Tannadice Park against Dundee United. Thus, there was no pressure going into this game. But the Hoops did sign off in style with a 6-0 win over Motherwell in front an electric Parkhead crowd.

This brings the curtain down in what has been a rollercoaster season for the club. It had begun with very little hope of any success, with the disastrous 2020/21 campaign in the background.

Postecoglou’s side were knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers early and lost three of their first six games in the Premiership. Things were not looking up for the club to say the least. But then, a switch flicked somewhere they started to string together results.

While Europe was a disappointment, Celtic did not lose a single league game since then on their way to the Premiership triumph, won the Scottish League Cup as well and have the Champions League group stage to look forward to. Already, some eyes will start moving towards the summer transfer window though.

Journalist believes Celtic will be desperate to sign player this summer

Journalist Pete O’Rourke believes Celtic will be desperate to get a deal done for Cameron Carter-Vickers although he also feels that they will have other options picked out as well in case they are not able to sign the defender. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, he said:

“He’s been really impressive at Celtic, slotted straight into the team under Ange Postecoglou and been among the top performers for the club.

“I think they will be desperate to get this deal done, but I’m sure Celtic’s scouting and recruitment team have got other options on the table if they aren’t able to sign the USA international.”

Signing Carter-Vickers might be one of the most important things that Celtic need to do this summer. The United States international has been immense since arriving on loan last summer from Tottenham Hotspur.

Defence was viewed as an area of weakness for Celtic last season but Carter-Vickers’ presence has certainly improved things at the back for the club.

Celtic are believed to have an option to buy included in the deal, although some rumours have claimed that the deal could rise up to £10 million with add-ons. Also, it will be interesting to see whether Carter-Vickers wants to stay or not.
