Celtic, Rangers and Arsenal in transfer battle for Scottish defender

Not too long ago, defence was considered to be a major weakness for Celtic. And this season as well, we have seen them struggle at the back at times. But overall, there is no question that the Hoops have improved in this respect since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. The performance against the Rangers on Sunday away at Ibrox was proof of that.

The Hoops will hopefully look to continue improving at the back moving forward though, especially since Cameron Carter-Vickers’ long-term future at the club is in doubt, as he is only on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur at the moment.

One player who appears to have caught Celtic’s attention is 18-year-old Scottish centre-back, Luke Graham. But there is heavy interest in the youngster’s signature.

As reported by The Courier, Graham was watched by a scout from Premier League giants Arsenal recently while representatives from Celtic and the Rangers were also at the game. He is set to have a trial with Sheffield United as well.

Celtic, Rangers and Arsenal in transfer battle for Graham

It is safe to say that there is a fair bit of interest in Graham from both down South and in Scotland, especially considering the fact that he is just 18 years of age at the moment.

Thus, it looks like he has brilliant potential and if Celtic are able to sign him, it could turn out to be a major coup on the part of the club. But with the kind of clubs being linked with the Scottish centre-back, it is safe to say that it won’t be easy to bring him to Parkhead.

Of course, the first thing that Celtic need to do now is make sure that they are able to sign Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur.
