Celtic open talks with coach over contract extension

It goes without saying that Celtic have made a remarkable turnaround this season. They had finished the previous campaign behind the Rangers by 25 points and without a trophy. This time around, they are leading the title race by six points with just six games to go and they have also won the Scottish League Cup already. Thus, Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff deserve tremendous credit for the job that they have done.

It was not always a popular decision for Postecoglou to come in, without his own staff. But the manager has certainly made the best of the situation.

And as reported by Football Insider, Celtic have opened talks with Gavin Strachan over a new contract, as he is highly regarded at Parkhead and all parties are hopeful that a deal can be reached.

While Strachan has had his fair share of critics during his time at Celtic, it is hard to question the work that he has done since the arrival of Postecoglou.

Celtic open talks with Strachan over new contract

The son of former Celtic manager, Gordon Strachan, it is safe to say that he has not always had an easy time at Parkhead.

He arrived in the summer of 2020 and as a result, was a part of the 2020/21 campaign, when Celtic failed in every competition and lost their chance at 10IAR, in one of the most disappointing seasons in the history of the club.

Thus, it is not hard to understand why many Celtic fans have questioned his abilities in the past, and a lot of jokes have been made about his laptop as well. But one cannot deny the fact that Strachan deserves credit for how well the team have done this season and now, it looks like he could end up extending his stay at the club,
