Celtic transfer blow in race for Bayern Munich youngster

Celtic’s squad has already undergone a lot of change over the past couple of transfer windows. The club signed twelve players in the summer, ten on a permanent basis and two on loan, and five more in January. On the other hand, key players like Kristoffer Ajer, Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie and several others have departed Parkhead as well. Thus, this is a very different team to the one which finished the previous season trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers.

Fortunately, that has been visible on the field as well. Celtic have already won the Scottish League Cup and as we head towards April, are still in contention for a domestic treble. The Hoops are in the Scottish Cup semi-final, where they will come up against the Rangers and also lead them by three points in the Premiership.

But things never stop at clubs like Celtic and they continue to be linked with one player after another. The name of Bayern Munich’s Christopher Scott is doing the rounds in the rumour mill over the past few days.

But it appears that Celtic have been handed a blow in the race for Scott’s signature. As reported by Sky Sport, the youngster is tempted to move to the Premier League. There have been talks with Brentford.

Celtic are also believed to have held talks for Scott. But it is not hard to see why the youngster might be interested in a move to the Premier League. Bundesliga clubs are being linked as well.

He has been a standout at the youth level for both Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, and has already made a couple of senior appearances for the reigning Bundesliga champions.

Scott is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Germany and if Celtic were able to sign him, it would be a major coup on their part. But it is clear that a move won’t be easy to pull off.
