Celtic suffer massive Cameron Carter-Vickers transfer blow

One of Celtic’s best moves in the summer was to bring in Cameron Carter-Vickers on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur. The United States international has been a major part of Ange Postecoglou’s team in this campaign and arguably the Hoops’ best defender. Thus, it is not hard to see why it has been rumoured that the Glasgow giants want to sign him on a permanent basis.

Carter-Vickers has been at Tottenham Hotspur from his youth days but he has never been able to find a regular place in the first-team there, instead spending time out on loan at a series of clubs over the years.

Thus, it is very possible that Tottenham Hotspur might be ready to let the 24-year-old leave in the near future. Unfortunately for Celtic, there appears to be a lot of interest in his signature though.

As reported by SBI Soccer, Leicester City and Wolves are interested in Carter-Vickers, as well as Watford and Bournemouth.

Celtic handed massive transfer blow in Carter-Vickers

There is no hiding from the fact that Carter-Vickers is a key part of this current Celtic team. Thus, it would be a huge blow for them, if he ends up departing the club at the end of this season.

Celtic do have an option to buy included in the loan deal for the United States international although it is unclear whether they are open to meeting it in the summer. Also, what would Carter-Vickers do if multiple sides from the Premier League come calling?

All things considered, Celtic’s chances of holding on to Carter-Vickers beyond this season, are not looking great at the moment. The fact that there have not been many updates surrounding the situation in recent weeks is a worry as well. Of course, things can change very quickly in football and let’s see what the future holds.
