Former England star wishes he had forced a move to Celtic

Celtic fans do love a good, exciting winger. They have a few in their current squad in the form of Jota and Liel Abada. The Portuguese star arrived in the summer on a season-long loan from Benfica and has been an absolute revelation for the Hoops. The club have an option to buy included in the deal but it is uncertain whether they would be able to keep him at the club.

On the other hand, Abada has made an incredible impact as well, especially for someone who was only a teenager when he arrived at the club. His numbers are very impressive. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.

One man who was a brilliant winger in his own right during his playing career is Trevor Sinclair. And he has admitted that the atmosphere at Parkhead in the game against the Rangers made him wish that he had done more to force a move to Celtic.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, while speaking to The Times, he said:

“I’d played at Parkhead in a West Ham friendly but it was next to empty. Against Rangers, it was rocking. Insane. It made me wish I’d done more to force a move to Celtic.”

Someone like Sinclair might have been a huge fan favourite at Celtic. He enjoyed a very good playing career in the Premier League, representing the likes of Queens Park Rangers, West Ham United and Manchester City.

These days, he does not make any secret of his admiration for Celtic as a club on social media, and it would have been nice to see him play for the club. In his prime, he was a very good player.

Celtic could find themselves in search of a winger in the summer, with the situation surrounding Jota unclear, while both James Forrest and Mikey Johnston have struggled with form and fitness. Unfortunately, it has been years since Sinclair retired.
