Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s huge admission about loss to Celtic

It is safe to say that Celtic were handed a huge boost by their 3-0 win over the Rangers in the recent Glasgow Derby. Not only did it send them to the top of the Premiership with a one point lead, but it also showed that they can still outplay the side from Ibrox, who the Hoops had not beaten in a few years until the recent game at Parkhead. As a result, Ange Postecoglou’s side find themselves in the driver’s seat in the title race.

On the other hand, it was not a great result for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side at all, although they have bounced back since then with a 5-0 win against Hearts and a 2-0 win against Hibernian.

Thus, it feels like the Premiership title race could go right down to the wire. But amidst all this, Van Bronckhorst has admitted that one of the Rangers’ players needs help following his performance against Celtic.

That player is none other than Borna Barisic, who was being linked by the media with a £20 million move away from Ibrox, a year or so back. As reported by The Scotsman, Van Bronckhorst said about the situation:

“For Borna, it was a difficult game.

“Those are moments that will happen in your career.

“The only thing we need to do is make sure we give him confidence, we help him. It is not easy.”

Van Bronckhorst makes huge Barisic admission after loss to Celtic

It is safe to say that Barisic has been nowhere near his best for a long time now. And it will be interesting to see whether the Croatian international can improve moving forward.

Interestingly, while Barisic struggled in the Glasgow Derby, Celtic had a Croatian international of their own in the form of Josip Juranovic, who put in one of the best full-back performances that you are going to see through the course of this season.

Of course, there are two more Glasgow Derbies to be played this season and with how tight things are looking at the moment, it might very well come down to the results of those games when it comes to the fate of the Premiership title.
