Sky Sports confirm exciting Celtic transfer rumours

Celtic have made a bright start to the January transfer window by already announcing deals for Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. All three are expected to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s squad and on top of that, there have been suggestions that they are closing in on a deal for Johnny Kenny as well. The Hoops appear to have more big plans for the future though.

Rumours have swirled around for quite some time that the club want to keep both Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis.

Both are on season-long loan deals at the moment and have been very impressive for the Hoops. And if the club are able to sign them on permanent deals, it would be considered as a major coup on the part of Celtic.

There is an exciting update in this regard. As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic have opened talks with Benfica and Tottenham Hotspur in their bid to sign Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers on permanent deals.

A transfer fee around £6.5 million is the option to buy included in Jota’s loan deal. On the other hand, it would take an initial transfer fee around £6 million to sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis.

It is safe to say that those are significant figures for Celtic and if signed, they would both go down as two of the most expensive signings in the history of the club. But after how well they have performed, Celtic must do all they can to keep them at Parkhead.

Jota has been absolutely sensational up front, both scoring and assisting consistently and proving to be one of the club’s standout players this season.

On the other hand, Carter-Vickers has arguably been Celtic’s best defender ever since arriving in the summer from Tottenham Hotspur.
