Celtic handed transfer blow in race for Cameroon international

Celtic were always expected to strengthen their squad in the upcoming January transfer window. If there is one thing that we have learned from the first half of the season under the management of Ange Postecoglou, it is that they do not have enough first-team players at this point of time, which has often resulted in the manager scrambling for options. That cannot be the case if they are to put up a sustainable title challenge.

Thus, do not be surprised to see Celtic make multiple additions to their squad this January. And one area that they do need to strengthen in is their midfield.

Callum McGregor, Tom Rogic, Nir Bitton and James McCarthy have all had their stints on the sidelines due to injuries. David Turnbull is currently out with a hamstring problem. And Ismaila Soro just does not look like a big part of Postecoglou’s plans.

One player that they, as well as the Rangers, have been linked with recently is Dundee United’s Jeando Fuchs. But it appears that the Hoops have been handed a transfer blow in the race for the Cameroon international.

Celtic handed transfer blow in race for Fuchs

As reported by Football Insider, Dundee United are ready to reject all offers for Fuchs in January. While the midfielder is out of contract next summer, the club regard him as vital to their hopes of finishing in the top six.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Fuchs. But it must be said that Celtic have already been linked with a couple of midfielders.

Kawasaki Frontale’s Reo Hatate and Gamba Osaka’s Yosuke Ideguchi are both players that Celtic are believed to be closing in on. And both of them are capable of playing in the middle of the park. Thus, a move for Fuchs might not have made sense for the club in January.
