Celtic vs Ferencvaros: 3 things we learned as Kyogo and Turnbull score

It was arguably one of the biggest results of the season for Celtic as they sealed a 2-0 win over Ferencvaros in the Europa League, thanks to goals from Kyogo and David Turnbull. And there were some big lessons to take from the game.

Having lost the first two games of their Europa League group stage campaign, against Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen respectively, Celtic would have known that they needed to win this game to keep their hopes of getting through to the knockout phases alive.

To be honest, it was a difficult first-half for the Hoops, as they struggled to break down a solid Ferencvaros side.

But things changed after the break, with goals from Kyogo and Turnbull proving to be the difference. And they could have easily scored more, with Callum McGregor even missing a penalty.

Kyogo’s return has made an incredible difference

The difference between Celtic with and without Kyogo is simply incredible. Last month, when the Japanese star was out injured, they well and truly struggled. But following his return, they have picked up some momentum once again.

It was against Bayer Leverkusen that Kyogo returned from injury and while Celtic did lose that match 4-0, they definitely had the chances to score multiple times against one of the best sides from the Bundesliga. Many of them were thanks to the brilliant movement of the Japanese striker.

And it is not just with his goals that he is making a difference. Kyogo just brings energy, movement and overall play that other strikers are not bringing to Ange Postecoglou’s side right now.

One can only hope that he remains fit moving forward and continues to find the back of the net for Celtic. It is clear that the club definitely need him right now.
