Incredible Celtic rumour emerges about Jota being recalled

Jota has been nothing short of a revelation ever since arriving at Celtic in the summer on a season-long loan from Benfica. He had struggled for a regular place in the Portuguese side’s first-team and had then spent a disappointing loan spell at Real Valladolid. But it is safe to say that he has come into his own during his time at Parkhead, proving to be one of the best players in the first half of the campaign.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Jota has scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in 18 appearances across all competitions for Celtic this season.

Thus, it is not hard to see why fans have made calls for the club to sign him on a permanent basis as soon as possible. Celtic are believed to have an option to buy clause for a transfer fee around £6.5 million included in the loan deal.

An incredible rumour has started to do the rounds on social media recently though about Jota being recalled by Benfica. And it is safe to say that eyebrows will be raised about this one.

Incredible Celtic rumour emerges about Jota being recalled

First of all, Celtic have an option to buy included in the loan deal, thus, it is hard to see how Benfica could recall Jota if the club just decided to shell out that figure for the winger.

Jota had returned to the Benfica training facilities recently but that is for their medical team to have a look at the injury that he had picked up in December.

Thus, it does not look like this rumour has a lot of legs and all the signs have pointed recently towards Celtic trying to sign him on a permanent basis.

While you can never say never in football, this feels like a rumour that should be taken with a pinch of salt at this point.
