Carlos Borges to Celtic transfer update amid rumours

Celtic have made moves for some highly-rated youngsters this summer. They have brought in Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga and Marco Tilio from Melbourne City FC. Rumours have suggested that they might be closing in on a move for South Korean youth international, Yang Hyun-jun of Gangwon FC.

Another superb young talent that they have been linked with is Carlos Borges. He currently plays for Manchester City at the youth levels, and is yet to make his debut for the senior team.

Borges has been putting up some staggering numbers for Manchester City at the youth levels though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 55 goals and provided 42 assists in 79 appearances till now.

That is an unbelievable output, especially for a winger. And one has to wonder why Borges has not been given his senior debut yet. Celtic fans were unsurprisingly excited about the rumours linking the club with the Portuguese youth international but there is some bad news regarding that.

Borges to Celtic transfer update amid rumours

As reported by Football Scotland, Borges is not currently a player Celtic are considering making a move for this summer. There has been no proposal from the club nor has there been any approach for the Portuguese youth international.

Borges’ current contract with Manchester City runs out in the summer of 2024. Thus, there might have been an opportunity to sign him this summer. It remains to be seen if the Portuguese youngster looks to extend his stay at the club or prefers an exit in search of football at the senior level.

For the time being, it does not look like Celtic are considering a move for Borges though. But they have been linked with several other highly-rated players, setting up for a very exciting summer transfer window for Hoops supporters.
