Leeds United agree deal to sign Celtic transfer target

Celtic must strengthen their ranks this summer, with Brendan Rodgers back for a second stint in the Parkhead hot seat. The good news is that rumours have suggested that the Northern Irishman has been handed a major transfer budget to add to his squad. They have already brought in Marco Tilio and Odin Thiago Holm, both very highly rated young prospects. But on the other hand, Jota has completed an exit, surely weakening the team as a result.

Thus, it will be interesting to see how Celtic go about their transfer business moving forward. A move for Yang Hyun-jun seems close. And there have been rumours that the Hoops could make a few marquee signings as well.

The club must strengthen their youth ranks as well though. One complaint that the fans have had in recent years is regarding Celtic’s inability to develop youngsters into first-team starters.

They have not been helped by the fact that so many of their highly-rated youth prospects have left before ever making an impact at the senior level. And now, it appears that they have lost out to Leeds United in a race to sign one of their targets as well.

Leeds United agree deal to sign Celtic transfer target

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United have agreed a deal worth £200,000 with Aberdeen to sign rising Scottish star, Lewis Pirie. He scored 51 goals for club and country last season and will join the English team on a contract to 2026.

Pirie is just 16 years of age and plays as a centre-forward. And he has quite clearly been a standout at the youth levels, as his 51 goals last season prove.

Celtic were a club who were linked with a move for Pirie in recent years and it is easy to understand why. But he is headed for Leeds United instead.
