Celtic’s flanks could look pretty different come next season. We have already seen a first-choice winger leave in the form of Jota, with the Portuguese player heading for Al-Ittihad. On the other hand, there are doubts over the future of Liel Abada as well. The Israeli international has been linked with a move away from Parkhead for months now, with clubs like Ajax, Benfica and more rumoured to hold an interest in signing him.
On the other hand, the club have already signed Marco Tilio. The Australian is a versatile player but is at his best on the right flank or as a number 10. And now, it appears that they are chasing the signature of another winger.
Celtic have been linked with Yang Hyun-jun for a while now. Earlier on, there was believed to be a reluctance on the part of Gangwon FC in letting him go though.
But as tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, Gangwon FC have resumed talks with Celtic over a £2 million deal for Yang. It is understood that there is a willingness now from all parties to make the move happen.
Celtic now in talks over deal to sign £2 million winger
Yang is a South Korean youth international and one of the highest rated youngsters there right now. In fact, he won the K-League Young Player of the Year in 2022.
Thus, it is not hard to see why Gangwon FC might not have been too keen to let him go. At the end of the day, they are near the bottom of the K-League table right now.
However, over the past few weeks, Yang has made it clear that he wants to make the move to Europe. And now, it looks like Gangwon FC are open to the idea of letting the winger go as well.
