Celtic now closing in on third signing of the summer

Most of the Celtic headlines have been dominated by the departure of Jota over the past few days, as the Portuguese winger has joined Al-Ittihad for a transfer fee believed to be around €30 million. That is a big blow for Brendan Rodgers’ side without doubt as they are losing arguably their most creative player. On the other hand, there have been incomings as well though.

Celtic have brought in Odin Thiago Holm, one of the most highly rated talents in Norwegian football today, who has earned comparisons with Martin Odegaard. The club have also signed Marco Tilio, who is extremely highly rated in Australia.

Now, it looks like Celtic are closing in on their third signing of the summer as well. And it is a player that they have been linked with for some time now, Yang Hyun-jun.

It had looked like Gangwon FC were not ready to let Yang go this summer, as they sit near the bottom of the K-League table right now. But there seems to have been a bit of a transfer breakthrough and now, a move to Parkhead could be on for the South Korean talent.

As reported by Sports Chosun (via Daily Record), Gangwon FC have backed down from their stance. And Yang’s chances of a summer move have “increased”, which could see him soon join Celtic.

It remains to be seen how things play out over the coming days and weeks. But now, it looks like Yang could be the club’s third signing of the summer.
