Celtic defender completes exit on season-long loan

Brendan Rodgers has some big decisions to make regarding the Celtic squad this summer. He has to determine which players fit his plans, who don’t and the ones who could do with a spell out on loan. One defender has already headed out for the season to the English League One, and he will be managed by Scott Brown there.

Brown has certainly kept an eye on Celtic talent, as he takes his first steps in management. Fleetwood Town certainly improved under his management last season. They had a great run in the FA Cup and finished 13th in League One, considerably better than their 20th place finish in the previous campaign.

It was not too long ago that Scott Robertson joined Fleetwood Town, after failing to establish himself at Celtic. And now, they have brought in another Parkhead talent, although on a loan deal.

As tweeted out by Fleetwood Town’s official account, Adam Montgomery has joined the club on a season-long loan deal from Celtic.

Montgomery is a left-back, who can play further up the pitch as well. The youngster played a decent amount of football early on in Ange Postecoglou’s run as Celtic manager.

But as the 2021/22 campaign progressed, he slipped down the pecking order. He spent the second half of that season out on loan at Aberdeen.

Montgomery spent the previous season out on loan at St Johnstone and actually impressed. Thus, a move to League One will have surprised many.
