Criticised Celtic signing has proven to be a masterstroke

Arguably the biggest reason behind Celtic’s success under the management of Ange Postecoglou has been their recruitment. The Hoops have done a wonderful job in picking out the right players for this style of football and it has meant that they have proven to be successful much earlier than most people would have expected. After all, when the Australian arrived in the summer of 2021, they were coming off of a disastrous campaign.

Of course, there have been some moves which have not worked out, but mostly, there have been many more successes than failures over the past four transfer windows.

One decision that was criticised by many though, was the decision to bring in Aaron Mooy in the summer.

The Australian international had not featured a lot before that transfer, and was up there in age as well. So many viewed it as a move in the sideward direction instead of forward. It has not taken long for them to be proven wrong though.

Mooy did take some time to get up to match speed, as he did not look fully fit when he arrived at Parkhead.

But now that he seems to be in peak shape, he is performing at a very high level and it might be time to start considering him as a regular starter.

The match against Dundee United was a prime example of that. He set up Jota’s opener and then put the ball into the back of the net from the spot kick. His overall performance was very good as well and he is quickly becoming a fan favourite.

Of course, Mooy might not have been a glamourous addition to this side, but the move has certainly proven to be a masterstroke over the course of the ongoing season.
