Massive update on Celtic’s next transfer targets this summer

Celtic fans should be quite content with the job that the club have done in the ongoing summer transfer window till now, heading into a season where they have a Premiership title to defend and Champions League football to navigate through after many years. The Hoops have done a wonderful job holding onto the core of their squad by signing Daizen Maeda, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota on a permanent basis, after impressive loan spells.

At the same time, they have brought in Aaron Mooy, Benjamin Siegrist and Alexandro Bernabei on permanent deals, and Moritz Jenz on loan from Ligue 1 side, Lorient.

There are a few more positions though, where Ange Postecoglou could do with a few more options in and at the same time, the Rangers have picked up pace in terms of transfers as well. Thus, things could potentially get interesting over the upcoming weeks.

Postecoglou has already hinted that the club could still add to their squad this summer. And a report from Football Scotland reads:

There is believed to be one or two irons in the fire after Ange Postecoglou revealed he does fancy another signing or more, but nothing is close.

Massive update on Celtic’s next transfer targets this summer

In terms of positions in which Celtic could look to strengthen in, striker could prove to be one. They have two great options there in the form of Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis, but both of them had their fair share of injury problems last season. Maeda can play there but has not looked at his best when playing as the focal point of attack.

Any move for another striker could depend on the club managing to find Albian Ajeti a new home though, after failing to make his mark at Celtic since joining from West Ham United.

On the other hand, many fans have called for the club to bring in a physical defensive midfielder as well. That is the type of player that they do not have right now and it feels like they have not replaced Nir Bitton adequately with Mooy.
