Celtic are coming off of an incredible campaign that saw them win the Premiership and League Cup double against all expectations, just a year after the disaster that was the 2020/21 season. The upcoming one promises to be somehow even more exciting though, with not just the league title to defend against the Rangers, but Champions League group stage football after many years as well.
As a result, Celtic need to strengthen their squad and they seem to be doing exactly that. Both Cameron Carter-Vickers and Benjamin Siegrist have already been signed, and now, it looks like they are on the verge of making another addition in the form of Alexandro Bernabei.
Bernabei impressed immensely during his time at Lanus and now, the Argentine left-back looks set to be the one coming with Greg Taylor for a spot in Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI at Celtic.
Cesar Luis Merlo has provided some details on the move, as it looks like the medical is already done, the club are preparing a deal till the summer of 2027 and Lanus will have a 10% sell-on clause. He tweeted out:
Massive details emerge about the Bernabei to Celtic deal
One thing that Celtic have done very well ever since the arrival of Postecoglou as manager is that they have spread their net far and wide when it comes to bringing in new talent, and that has served them very well till now.
Bernabei is a raw talent and there is a risk involved in signing him as he has not played in Europe before. But at the same time, he has all the attributes needed to be a success in Postecoglou’s style of football and the manager has shown a great eye for picking out players who can thrive under him.
Celtic fans will be hoping that Bernabei is one such player. The £3.75 million transfer fee that the Hoops are believed to have shelled out to sign him is significant to say the least.
