Sky Sports man delivers brilliant Celtic transfer update

Celtic enjoyed a brilliant 2021/22 campaign under the management of Ange Postecoglou as they bounced back from the disaster that had been the previous season. The Hoops delivered against all expectations and ended up winning a Premiership and League Cup double. 2022/23 promises to be even bigger though, with Champions League group stage football to play and the Scottish crown to defend against the Rangers.

Thus, Celtic will need to strengthen their squad over the summer and they are certainly taking steps in the right direction.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has already been signed on a permanent basis following his brilliant loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur last season. The deal for Jota is also believed to be only a matter of time. And now, Alexandro Bernabei of Lanus is set to join as well.

Anthony Joseph tweeted out that Celtic made a breakthrough in talks with Lanus over Bernabei and the two clubs have agreed a £3.75 million deal in principle:

Celtic have agreed a deal in principle for the Argentine

There has been some conflicting reports in the media about the transfer fee that Celtic will be shelling out to sign Bernabei from Lanus. But if he can fulfil the potential that he has shown till now, then the Argentine youth international could prove to be a bargain.

Bernabei has a brilliant combination of pace, skill, agility and tenacity, and all of those attributes could serve him well in Postecoglou’s system of football.

Now, it remains to be seen when or if the deal gets over the line. It is believed though that Bernabei has already said his goodbyes to his Lanus teammates. Thus, the expectation will be that the Hoops will be able to bring him in before pre-season starts, as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and Champions League football.
