Celtic have to make transfer move after latest announcement

Celtic might be the champions of Scotland but they do need to improve their squad for next season. The best time to strengthen is when you are at the top and it is always a mistake not to do so, and the Hoops cannot afford any missteps with the Scottish crown to defend next season as well as Champions League group stage football to deal with after many years.

This is the position that they would have wanted to be in but at the same time, it brings it fair share of pressure with it too.

Amidst all this, it has been announced that Vasilis Barkas will be joining FC Utrecht on a season-long loan. This makes it important for Celtic to make an addition between the posts.

Joe Hart arrived last summer from Tottenham Hotspur and has been the number one between the posts since then. The Hoops do need to provide him with some competition though, with it improbable that Scott Bain will be pushing him for a first-team spot next season.

Celtic must make transfer move after announcement of Barkas’ loan

Hart is 35 years of age and nowhere near his prime as a footballer. Thus, he is not a long-term solution for Celtic, even though he might have had a very positive 2021/22 campaign.

Hart put in some good performances in goal and has been a leader in this team as well. But at the same time, there are some holes in his game, which do not suit the style of football that Ange Postecoglou wants this side to play.

Thus, it might not be a bad idea on the part of Celtic to bring in a goalkeeper, even if on loan, who has the attributes to thrive in that particular system and push Hart for the first-team gloves. Competition for places is always a positive thing in football.
