Massive update in Celtic’s transfer chase for 19-goal striker

Celtic are pretty strong up front at this point of time. Both Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis enjoyed standout seasons for the club and Ange Postecoglou’s biggest headache might be surrounding how to fit both of them into the same starting XI. But at the same time, it looks like the club might have their eyes on another striker this summer as well.

Albian Ajeti is expected to leave the club, after failing to break into Postecoglou’s plans next season. On the other hand, Celtic have one major worry regarding both Kyogo and Giakoumakis as well.

Both of them have struggled to remain fit during their time at Celtic and have been forced to spend significant time out on the sidelines due to injuries. Daizen Maeda has played up front in their absence but has not looked at his best in the role.

Thus, it might not be a bad idea for Celtic to sign another striker if Ajeti does indeed leave. One player that they have been linked with recently is Ferencvaros’ Ryan Mmaee. And now, there appears to be an interesting update surrounding the situation.

Massive update in Celtic’s transfer chase for 19-goal Ferencvaros striker

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Kieran Devlin said while speaking to The Cynic’s “The Agenda” podcast:

“I heard on Friday from a couple of people that they’re really keen on Ferencvaros striker Ryan Mmaee. There’s loads of legs in that.

“Looking into him he seems a really good fit, I’d be quite excited about bringing him in.

“People say you’ve got GG and Kyogo there, but there were times where both of those guys were injured and we had to play Ajeti through the middle or play a false nine, I do think you are one or two injuries away from having a striker crisis.”

Thus, it looks like there is definite interest on the part of Celtic when it comes to the Ferencvaros striker who  has enjoyed a tremendous campaign for the Hungarian club, as they won a double.

He is believed to have the attributes to be a great fit in Postecoglou’s system as well, which is a huge positive.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Mmaee has scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists in 37 appearances for Ferencvaros. And at just 24 years of age, he would be expected to get even better moving forward.
