Celtic might no longer need a rebuild like they did last summer but they still could do with reinforcements in multiple positions across the pitch. One of them could be goalkeeper, with Vasilis Barkas expected to leave the club in the summer and Scott Bain having struggled in the past with the first-team gloves. It must also be pointed out that Joe Hart is 35 years of age and not a long-term solution.
Thus, it would not be a massive surprise if Celtic end up signing a goalkeeper this summer. But at the same time, they must be aware of the fact that they have the highly-rated Tobi Oluwayemi coming through the youth ranks.
As a result, goalkeeper is not a position that they need to splash out on this summer but a bit of cover there would be good, with the Scottish Premiership title to defend and Champions League group stage football guaranteed as well. Thus, someone like Benjamin Siegrist, who is a free agent this summer, could be a great option to consider.
But as reported by Football League World, according to Alan Nixon via Patreon, Preston North End are in talks to sign Siegrist, who has been watched by Celtic and Manchester United.

Siegrist spent four years at Dundee United and during that period of time, was one of the best goalkeepers in the Scottish Premiership. Celtic will be no strangers to how good he can be on his day, having had first hand experience of trying to put the ball past him into the net.
Thus, someone like Siegrist could be the perfect back up signing to Hart or perhaps even a starter, if he can prove that he is a better choice than the Manchester City legend, who played a key role in Celtic’s return to the top of Scottish football this season.
There is heavy interest in his signature though, especially as a free agent, and something that Preston North End can offer the 30-year-old, that the likes of Celtic and Manchester United might not be able to, is regular first-team football.
