Celtic: 3 players who could replace Tom Rogic at Parkhead

Tom Rogic has decided to part ways with Celtic, after almost a decade-long run at Parkhead. His departure indeed came as a shock, but he has left an incredible legacy behind him at the club. Signed by the Hoops back in 2013, the Australian has been involved in some of the biggest moments in their history.

In the nine years in Glasgow, the 29-year-old has earned numerous accolades, in what was a trophy-laden time for Celtic.

An outstanding player for Celtic over the years, Rogic will leave not only good memories for the supporters to cherish but also big boots for the club to fill in the midfield department.

During his time at Celtic, according to stats from Transfermarkt, Rogic made 272 appearances for the club, scoring 46 goals and providing 49 assists across all competitions. Now, the difficult part for the Hoops will be to find someone to replace him on the pitch.

One of Celtic’s own, Luca Connell is an interesting name to kick start the proceedings. Born in Liverpool, he joined the academy of Bolton Wanderers at the age of nine. Thanks to the rapid development that he was enjoying, the youngster was promoted to their under-23s side for the 2018/19 season.

And from there, he made his senior debut for Bolton Wanderers against Walsall in the FA Cup in January of 2019. Soon enough, Celtic came knocking for his signature.

Subsequently, Connell put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Celtic, following a transfer that is believed to have involved a fee around £350,000.

Fast forward three years and Connell spent the season on loan at Queen’s Park in the League One of Scottish football. He has had a decent campaign as well. Now at 21 years of age though, it might be time for him to take the next step.

Despite playing in various positions across the midfield, he has never made a single appearance for Celtic. Could that change next season?
