Sky Sports man confirms Celtic talks with brilliant left-back

Celtic will be expected to strengthen their ranks in the summer, even though it is not going to be complete chaos like the last time around when the club brought in twelve players in total, ten on a permanent basis and two on loan. But with Champions League football guaranteed, the Hoops must make sure that they build a squad that can compete in Europe’s elite competition and make an impression.

One of the areas that has been viewed as an weakness in this team for a long time now is left-back. Since Kieran Tierney left in a then Scottish record move to join Arsenal in the summer of 2019, the Hoops have not been able to find a proper replacement for him.

Greg Taylor has shown a lot of improvement this season but even now, there are question marks about whether he is good enough to be starting for Celtic week in, week out. Thus, it should not come as any surprise if the club try to sign another left-back in the summer.

One player that they have been linked with heavily is Hammarby’s Mohanad Jeahze and now, Anthony Joseph has confirmed that talks have been held with him although they are not advanced. He tweeted out:

Jeahze has been a standout performer for Hammarby in recent times. He is absolutely brilliant going forward and can more than hold his own in defence. Many even view him as the best left-back playing in the Swedish top flight right now.

On top of that, he is accustomed to playing the role of an inverted left-back already, and also has an incredible intensity to his game off the ball. On top of everything else, he has the stamina to go at a good pace for the entire 90 minutes.

All of these attributes make the Iraq international a great fit for Postecoglou’s side. It is believed that he could be available for a transfer fee around £2 million, which could be a bargain. Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic do indeed make a move.
