Celtic appear to be getting ready for a huge summer transfer window. It will be very different from the previous one though, when the Hoops had to sign twelve players in total, ten on a permanent basis and two on loan. On the other hand, they had lost a number of players including the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Kris Ajer, Ryan Christie, Scott Brown and more. Thus, that was a major rebuild.
This time around, Celtic do not need to undergo a rebuild though. Instead, what they need to do is strengthen, because the foundation has already been put into place since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager.
While it will be important to bring in new players over the summer, it will also be equally, if not more, important to hold onto the players who were on loan at the club last season.
A permanent deal for Daizen Maeda is already over the line. And now, it looks like Jota could be closing in on the same as well. As reported by A Bola, the Portuguese winger is practically confirmed in the Celtic team, as they are set to exercise the €7.5 million option to buy included in the loan deal.
Celtic appear to be on the verge of another permanent transfer
Signing Jota on a permanent basis would be a huge boost for Celtic to say the least. The Portuguese winger has been one of the key reasons behind their Premiership and League Cup double this season, even if he has not been at the top of his game at all times.
Jota has been exceptional at times and one can only hope that he gets even better moving forward, as he will now have experience of a season in the Scottish game as well.
Celtic have been believed to be ready to trigger the clause for a while but it was expected to come down to the player and what he wanted to do.
Now, recent rumours have suggested that Jota has decided that joining Celtic on a permanent basis would be the best step forward for him. Nothing is official yet but fans will be hoping that that is done soon.
