Massive update on Christopher Jullien’s Celtic future

Not too long ago, Christopher Jullien was considered the best defender at Celtic. It is safe to say that times have changed since then, with Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers forming a formidable duo in defence last season. And with Stephen Welsh playing the role of their back up, it has meant that the French defender has barely featured for the Hoops in recent times.

The biggest reason for that have been his major injury issues, which have kept him out of action for a lot of the past couple of seasons, with Jullien not making a single appearance in 2021.

He returned to action earlier this year but has not featured much. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Jullien has made one appearance this season, playing for 16 minutes in the Scottish Cup against Raith Rovers.

Thus, it should come as no surprise that the defender is considering his future at Celtic. And as reported by The Scottish Sun, Jullien is attracting interest from France. Several Ligue 1 clubs are monitoring his situation and could launch moves this summer.

Ligue 1 clubs are interested in the struggling Celtic star

Celtic signed Jullien from Toulouse in the summer of 2019 for a transfer fee around £7 million,, immediately making him one of the most expensive signings in the history of the club.

His first season for Celtic was very promising as well, as he cropped up with some important goals, especially the Scottish League Cup winning one against the Rangers. At the same time, he showed a lot of quality defensively as well, and it had looked like the club had found themselves a long-term solution at the back.

Since then though, things have gone downhill for Jullien as he has struggled to remain fit for any considerable length of time. As a result, a move away from Celtic might be the best step forward for both parties at this point of time.
