Celtic have taken some tremendous strides this season under the management of Ange Postecoglou. Coming into the campaign, hopes were set pretty low after the club had finished 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership last season and failed to win a single piece of silverware. Normalcy has been restored this time around though and the Hoops are closing in on a double.

One of the biggest reasons behind their success has been the kind of players that they have signed since the arrival of Postecoglou. The manager seems to have a clear idea of who he wants in his system and as a result, more often than not, the moves work out.

One of the recent successes has been the story of Daizen Maeda, who was brought in on loan from Yokohama F. Marinos in January although there is believed to be an obligation to buy for a transfer fee around £2 million.

And Maeda has now pretty much confirmed that he will be joining the club on a permanent basis as he already appears to be looking forward to next season. As reported by Glasgow Live, the Japanese international said:

“I am happy here.

“But I am looking forward to resting.

“I have been playing since the beginning of last season in Japan.

“I will have to take enough rest to be ready to go again next season. I want to be at my best next season.”

Maeda confirms he’ll be staying on at Celtic

Maeda endured a slow start to life at Celtic and has not had the easiest time leading the line on his own, but when he has been paired up with someone up top, he has done a pretty good job.

He has also played continuous football since the start of the 2021 Japanese season and as a result, one would only expect him to get better after he finally gets some rest after the end of Celtic’s ongoing campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Maeda has scored 8 goals and provided 2 assists in 20 appearances.

There are two more players that Celtic currently have on loan though, Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, whose futures are far more uncertain. And fans will be hoping that the club can find a way to sign them on a permanent basis.
